Our doctors are certified Fear Free Professionals. This means that we are committed to making your pet's experience low stress. Some ways we do this include:
- Separate exam rooms for dogs and cats
- Pheromone diffusers in the lobby and rooms
- Non-slip surfaces on tables
- Keeping your pet with you for as much as possible
- Gentle handling and restraint
- Lots of treats, toys, and other rewards
- Separate entrance right in to the exam room for reactive dogs
- Lower noise level, including LED lights rather than fluorescent
- Low scent cleaning products
- Minimize lobby time, we try to get you in the room as soon as possible
- Homework: we may have your pet come back another day with medication on board to reduce their stress. We may also have you work to desensitize them to the car, a carrier, or a basket muzzle so that they are not triggered by these experiences. Sometimes injectable sedation is needed.
